Heavy 4ply Weight Silk, Mohair and Polyamide

Dragonfly is a beautiful heavy fingering/4ply to sport weight yarn made from a single strand of silk, wrapped with a strand of mohair and polyamide.  The two fibres take dye differently giving the yarn a wonderful depth and complexity.

Although the yarn has an almost bouclé appearance it knits up into a smooth and even fabric.

I'd recommend using a 3.5mm needle for projects that need to keep their shape, such as sweaters or mittens, but a 4mm needle would be perfect for projects that need drape such as shawls or cowls.

Please note this yarn relaxes on washing and blocking. Before washing my swatch knitted on 3.5mm needles had a tension of 26 sts and 34 rows to 10cm, and after washing the swatch had a tension of 24 sts and 33 rows to 10cm.

Patterns suitable for Dragonfly can be found in The Faery Wings Collection (available below), which includes seven projects (including shawls, cowls and mittens) for Fyberspates Faery Wings (four designed by me!) which is a very similar yarn to Dragonfly, but is put up in 50g skeins.
